To change your profile image:

1. Go to the dashboard.
2. Click on the profile image found at the upper left of the page
3. Click the browse button and search your computer and select a personal image you'd like to use
4. Click the update link and your new image will be uploaded to the site

Click on the Dashboard link found in the site toolbar near the top right of all pages.

- On the left side of the dashboard, under your avatar, is an Edit Profile link. Click it.
- Then, you have a series of tabs at the top of the middle section of your page: "Basics", "Contact", "Company", "Experience", etc. Change the info in each tab, then click the Update button below the info.
- The more information you have filled out in your profile, the easier it'll be for people to find you when searching for others with similar backgrounds, goals, interests, etc.

The award badges are automatically generated by the site for the members leading the site in participation in various areas.

You can see who the site participation leaders are on the stats page.

Jump in, invite your friends to join, post to the bulletins, vote on your favorite articles, post in the blogs, comment on the blogs, participate in the forums, and you'll have the opportunity to get yourself a badge, and even better, a chance to appear on the stats page, bringing extra visibility for you and your profile.

BiggerPockets launched an Awards system to reward our members for their participation on the site. We wanted to give members something to strive towards, and hopefully inspire them to get involved in all areas of the site.

Members can take private notes about other members or about any property by visiting their profile and clicking the Add Note link.

These notes are only viewable by you, and are used to help you remember things about that member.

You can view your notes at any time by visiting the profile of the member you took a note on

OR

by going to the dashboard and clicking on the NOTES link in the grey menu bar. That link will show you ALL notes you've taken.

We’ve established a point system for the site, which takes into account a member’s participation on BiggerPockets. You can gain both positive and negative influence based upon what you do on the site.

The goal of this influence system is to reward those members who not only help their fellow users, and contribute to the community, but also those who help the site to run smoothly. Influence points can be gained by posting, commenting, voting, alerting moderators of spam, etc. The real points come, however, when others deem your posts as helpful (by voting), or when you help us to rid the site of junk & spam.

On the other hand, the impact of spamming the site, not following the rules (we need to edit or delete your posts), or worse, is severe in terms of your influence points.

Those members with higher influence are typically the ones who have established a reputation on the site.

Members can request references from their colleagues on the site. A reference should explain your relationship with the other person and how you've worked together; references should be written in detail.

Please do not give a reference to someone that you do not know!

They are a great way to let others know that you're trustworthy and worth connecting with. Just view your list of colleagues and request a reference from anyone you may have worked with. When they fill out the request, you will have the ability to approve it before it goes live on your profile for all to see.

References are a great way to build your credibility, and we strongly recommend getting references from as many people as possible to make your profile stand out.
